What is Osteopathy?
Working Together With Your Body
Osteopathy is a drug-free, non-invasive manual therapy that aims to improve health across all body systems by manipulating and strengthening the musculoskeletal framework.

Osteopaths are primary health care practitioners that focus on diagnosis and treatment of the Musculoskeletal system including the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments and nerves. It compliments mainstream medicine and combines scientific knowledge of anatomy and physiology with clinical methods of investigation and considers relevant psychosocial factors.
It is distinctive by the fact that it recognises that much of the pain from which we suffer stems from abnormalities in the function of the body structures and is based on the philosophy that the body functions more efficiently if it is aligned properly.

What to expect from the treatment?
Treatment is hands on and can include a wide range of techniques, for instance manual therapy, soft tissue massage, muscle energy techniques, joint articulations and skilled manipulations of the spine and joints. Self care measures and advice on exercise at home may be offered to assist your recovery, prevent recurrence or worsening of your symptoms.
Who can be treated?
Osteopaths are trained in therapeutic approaches that are suitable for a broad range of individuals, including pregnant women, children and babies. Osteopaths can treat a wide range of conditions concerning any joints throughout the body, can assess and treat any soft tissue condition affecting the muscles, ligament, or tendons and are experts in the treatment of spinal conditions.
